5 Favorite Simple Recipes I Tried and Loved in November

Hello, comfort food season!

While most of these recipes below don’t fall into the category of “traditional holiday dish,” they do offer a bowl of something cozy, a great dip to contribute to a gathering (or to a weekend afternoon at home!), and something sweet to fill the house with good smells. I hope you enjoy browsing through them!

This recipe was my attempt to remake a homemade tuna salad our nanny used to cook when the kids were small and Joe and I were both traveling often for work. Hers is better but since she didn’t have a recipe either, this is the best I can do for you! I shared a link to a similar version of this dish before, but this time I actually wrote out my take on the recipe. I hope you enjoy!

Tuna Salad Ingredients:

3 cans of tuna
Two stalks of celery, chopped
Box of small pasta like shells or orecchiette (but any kind will do)
Green onions, sliced
Toasted almonds, sliced
Dried cherries
Small bunch of dill, chopped
Small bunch of parsley, chopped

Dressing Ingredients: 

One part olive oil
One part mayo
Two tablespoons dijon mustard
Squeeze of lemon
Salt and pepper


Cook the pasta al dente. While the pasta is cooking, mix the dressing ingredients together. Once the pasta is done cooking, rinse it with cold water and shake excess water off. In a large bowl, combine tuna and celery with the dressing. Add the pasta, top with ¾ of your green onions, herbs, cherries, and almonds. Combine until all ingredients are distributed evenly. Let rest in the fridge for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to come together. Top with the remaining ¼ green onions, herbs, cherries, and almonds.
